"COMeIN was given this name, above all, because it represents an invitation: step forward, come through, don't stay outside, come in." Ferran Lalueza, director of the journal and of the UOC's degree in Communication, opened one of its first articles with a declaration of principles: COMeIN: come in and find out.
In its first year, the journal has published nearly 100 articles, all written by faculty from the Information and Communication Sciences department. As the department's director, Lluís Pastor, says in his article entitled Uoczeitgeist, "our faculty have a lot to say about this world that changes every second". Thus, COMeIN has become a tool for dissemination and a forum for the department to promote its desire to teach.
In depth and rigorous, but not inflexible
The journal takes a specific part of this reality (current affairs, a scientific study, a new communication phenomenon, a recent publication, etc.) as a starting point for the writers of the articles to analyse in depth and rigorously, in a clear and concise way, the constant change we are immersed in. With this in mind, the highlights are the numerous articles looking at one of the phenomena that has spread furthest and fastest in all areas of information and communication: social media.
Committed to society
The UOC's Information and Communication Sciences department has always had the ambition and commitment to play an important role in the society in which it is rooted, while remaining alert to society's needs and evolution. And as the course offering increases in response to the needs detected, the department has also wanted to open up the classrooms to the world through COMeIN, its informative journal that has just celebrated its first anniversary.
