abstract

This is a reference work for teachers starting out in Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) or for those who want to learn more about the practical side of teaching and learning in a virtual environment. Readers will find examples and ideas on e-learning and how to start working effectively in a VLE throughout the book. Those working in university teaching will benefit from the look it takes at the fundamental elements in a virtual environment: the new roles for the student and teacher, how to design and carry out teaching activities or how to assess them. There are also a number of innovative suggestions, both in the main chapters and in the appendices at the end, that are particularly useful for the new university model required by the European Higher Education Area.
