This section is divided into two parts.
In the first part, you will get to know by means of
a diagram the technology and services offered to users.
In the second, you will be shown the characteristics
of the supra-campus,
which offers global solutions of an integrated and individualised
nature in the form of applications, infrastructure,
and training services.
Educational Intranet
This is the Intranet for the training
of UOC students,
and the environment for the development of the University's
teaching activity.

Characteristics:
It is a server application.
It is based on Internet standards.
Access is obtained by means of a key (username
/ password).
It manages multiple requests in a simultaneous
way
It administers the data of each user.
It supports multiple profiles (depending on the
user connecting to it, access is allowed to a
set of functions offered by the Intranet but perhaps
not to others).
Functions:
Customised menu management.
Management of user preferences (language, change
of password, curriculum...).
Management of relationships among users.
Guidance to learning for students.
Messaging support.
It allows for the application of a teaching structure.
Multiple environments, yet a single access (teaching
profile, student profile...).
Entry point for other applications (such as those
described in the model -> services -> management
section).
Personal notebook and Lecture room diary.
Why this has been developed in
this way:
No need to install any specific software in the
user's computer.
It is based on the premise of the NON-coincidence
between space and time.
Information is centralised.
New functions are applied to all users at the
time those functions are installed.
It has to be within the reach of any computer
connected to the Internet.
It has to be adaptable to the emerging new technologies.
It has to afford all users access to information
with a minimum of guarantees of network speed.
It has to be able to provide service to a high
number of simultaneous requests.
Supra-campus
It offers all personalised and customised
e-learning services for one's own use (Educational Intranet,
telematic
academic management, digital resources store-room)
in an uninterrupted way, totally safe and private, in
the ASP
mode*.
