The UOC takes part in an inter-university cooperation project for teachers to share educational resources online
OERtest project
[07/09/2011]

The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya is working on a European research project to test the feasibility of incorporating the use of open educational resources (OER) as a form of training courses in university education.

Albert Sangrā, researcher from the Edul@b group, participates in Testing an Open Education Resource Framework for Europe (OERtest) project that is part of the Lifelong Learning Programme funded by the European Union (Erasmus). The initiative is led by the Universidad de Granada and with the participation of the universities of Bologna (Italy), Duisburg-Essen (Germany), Edinburgh (United Kingdom) and the United Nations University (UNU), in addition to the group SCIENTER research and the association EFQUEL.

The project has created a website where OERtest aims to develop standards for the supply of open educational resources, with guidelines for evaluating the work done by the students through these resources, quality standards, management models, etc. The initiative aims to examine the feasibility of acting in this context only through a series of pilot programs and help address the challenges facing higher education. The project wishes to establish a unique site at European level, through a series of recommendations for the universities and the participating centers, and a network of semi-formal institutions.

OERtest wants to establish a European information center for open resources (OER), creating an economic model on marketing resources for higher education institutions (HEI) and popularize open educational tools as a legitimate and quality teaching.
