The University of the Future Network organizes in Pennsylvania the summit Beyond the Walls

The University of the Future Network, which the professor of the Psychology and Educational Sciences Department of the Open University of Catalonia, Josep Maria Duart is a member, organizes the summit Beyond the Walls: The University of the Future on October 11th and 12th.

Beyond the Walls: The University of the Future. seeks to examine the meaning of the university in an era when virtual and online education is transforming the brick-and-mortar campus. Stakeholders from across the University of Pennsylvania will engage in dialogue with global thought-leaders in higher education, teaching and learning innovation, digital media, social networks, and the role of the university in society and industry.

The summit will feature a keynote lecture by Prof. Manuel Castells (USC), titled “The University in the Information Age: From Theology to Technology”

The event is sponsored by Penn’s Office of the Provost in cooperation with the University of the Future Network and the Online Learning Initiative

What is the future of the university? What is the university of the future? How have globalization, radical transformation of information technologies, digital media, and increasing demand for 21st-century skills and competencies combined to trigger an urgency for higher education institutions of all kinds to transform the ways they create and deliver content and respond to social and economic expectations? These are some of the questions that will be answered during the summit.
