UNWTO.TedQual certification
The Bachelor's Degree in Tourism and the Master's Degree in Tourist Destination Strategy and Sustainable Management recently received TedQual certification, the only international certification in teaching and training awarded by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations specialist agency.
The UOC is the first 100% online university in the world to obtain this voluntary certification, which, by following minimum quality standards for tourism teaching, seeks to provide permanent improvements to tourism training and research programmes, primarily to achieve sustainable development in this sector. The audit completed in order to grant the TedQual looks at aspects such as the consistency of the course plan, programme content, teaching support infrastructure and equipment, administration support policies and tools, the existence of transparent lecturer selection mechanisms, etc. This certification is valid until 2018.
Euro-Inf certification
In 2012, the European Quality Assurance Network for Informatics Education (EQANIE) awarded the Euro-Inf international accreditation to six core training courses of the UOC's Faculty of Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications in recognition of the quality of its training and research work. These are the Multimedia, Computer Engineering and Telecommunications Technology degrees and university master's degrees in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering and Multimedia Applications.
Euro-Inf is the only world accreditation that specializes in university ICT programmes and assesses aspects such as consistency of the course plan with the learning results defined by EQANIE, adaptation of the education model and the assessment system and of academic staff and available resources and efficiency and adaptation of the management system. This accreditation is widely implemented in Germany and Scandinavia. The UOC was the first university in Spain to obtain these accreditations. These accreditations will need to be renewed in 2017.
