New articles in "Nota d'Economia" on the Gender Gap in STEM, on collaborative economics and on Industry 4.0

21/11/2019

Milagros Sáinz, director of the Gender and ICT research group of the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3), has published an article in the latest edition of Nota d’Economia, a monographic issue devoted to the impact and challenges of the digital revolution in Catalonia.

Doctor Sáinz’s contribution focuses on the gender gap in the choice of STEM and ICT studies in Catalonia and Spain. The article analyses the situation of girls and women across academic disciplines in secondary education and university, and examines several interventions developed in Europe and the United States aimed at attracting and retaining women in scientific and technological studies. On the other hand, Milagros Sáinz offers recommendations to increase women’s representation in STEM and ICT studies and occupations and encourage their equal participation in the digital society. You can consult the article by clicking here.

In the same issue of the magazine, the article "Economia de plataforma: classificació i experiències a nivell local", and written by Mayo Fuster, director of the Digital Commons (DiMMONS) research group of the IN3, has also been published.

Nota d’Economia is published periodically since 1983 by the Government of Catalonia's Department of Economy and Finance. The latest edition was presented on November 15, 2019, with interventions of the Vice President of the Catalan Government, Pere Aragonès, the Director-General of Economic Analysis of the Government of Catalonia, Marta Curto, and the Secretary of Economy, Natàlia Mas Guix.

Joan Torrent, professor at the UOC of Economics and Business Studies, has also participated in this publication with the article "Transformació digital i productivitat de l'empresa industrial a Catalunya: cap a la indústria 4.0".
