Objectives: The research project analyses the process of interaction between the information and communication technologies, organizational change, cultural change and the relationship with the users in the system for providing health services in Catalonia. The study includes a statistical analysis of the dissemination and uses of information and communication technologies and communication to the health system, including hospitals, primary healthcare centres, clinics and other services, as well as the relationship between the units that provide services and the public administrations and insurance companies. It considers conducting an in-depth study of the social practices associated with the introduction of information and communication technologies in three large hospitals
The project also contains a study of the Catalan health websites, above all in terms of the relationship they have with patients. It also observes the functioning of self-help patient and family groups and the use of the Internet in their practice and development. The focus on health also includes in-depth interviews with experts and managers of the Healthcare Administration, medical and nurses' groups, paramedics, employees within the sector, patients’ groups, biomedical researchers and health system administrators.
