Dr. David Wiley is founder and board member of the Open High School of Utah and Chief Openness Officer of Flat World Knowledge. He is also the Founder of OpenContent.org and was recently named one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business. His career is dedicated to increasing access to educational opportunity for everyone around the world.
As openness goes mainstream, educational researchers are increasingly turning their attention to the field of educational data mining. The combination of openness and the analysis of "big data" provide incredible opportunities for serving learners more effectively. This seminar will describe why openness is so important and how openness and educational data mining can combine to drastically improve education.
