This session will be held Wednesday 20th October at the UOC Support Centre in Barcelona. It will start at 12:00h. Oscar Tomico’s main research topic is situated media. His work explores how to recontextualize digital media in the physical and social domains. Current projects focus on envisioning the future role of museums, libraries, expositions and offices as knowledge building communities.
Research through design
Research on situated media explores how the consumption and creation of digital media will be transformed by the inclusion of the social and physical context as part of the content. Situated bookmarking is about the convergence between the digital, social and physical bookmarking of resources.
This workshop, addressed to all UOC community, will introduce you to the area of research through design. Multiple projects on situated media addressing multicultural neighbourhoods, schools in Japan, retail stores home living room setting, and public libraries will be presented. Moreover, the first iteration from the situated bookmarking research project at the eLearn Center will be shown.
