Pastora Martínez to inaugurate a workshop on Open Access at ECA 2017

The ECA 2017 (Open Knowledge Ecosystems) conference is being held at the University of Salamanca on 25, 26 and 27 October. Pastora Martínez, the UOC's Vice President for Globalization and Cooperation and a representative for Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) in the European University Association's (EUA) group of experts on Science 2.0/Open Science, will be giving the keynote speech for the 26 October programme, and will offer a critical reflection on open access policies in Europe.

The purpose of ECA 2017 is to provide an international meeting point for specialists, professionals and researchers, where they can take a multidisciplinary approach to discussions on open knowledge in relation to research and development fields. The programme includes talks, the presentation of results, and experiences relating to open access. It also offers attendees a chance to familiarize themselves with the latest innovative trends in all areas of their field, as well as round tables, workshops, project presentations and various services and resources.

This is a conference organized by the University of Salamanca (USAL) and the Red de Bibliotecas Universitarias Españolas (Spanish University Library Association, REBIUN).

The conference will also host REBIUN's 16th Workshop on Digital Projects and the 7th edition of the Jornades OS-Repositorios workshops on open source repositories. These will be held on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 October, coinciding with Open Access Week, a worldwide event celebrating open access.

In addition, ECA 2017 is staging the 11th International Debate on Information Science, to be held on Wednesday 25 October.
