The European Distance and E-learning Network (EDEN) is organizing the European Online and Distance Learning Week (EODLW) for the sixth consecutive time this year.
Sessions and webinars will be held from 3 to 10 November as part of the EODLW to reflect about the lessons learnt during the COVID-19 pandemic and the current state of higher education in post-pandemic times. Experts from various institutions will discuss best practices and their experiences in the field of online and distance education, as well as the challenges for the construction of the future of education.
One of these events will be the panel "A Report Card on the Crisis: What is the Legacy of the Great Onlining of Higher Education?" The discussion will feature UOC President Josep A. Planell and will be moderated by Sandra Kucina Softic, President of EDEN and Assistant Director for Education and User Support at the University of Zagreb's Computing Centre, Croatia. The aim of the session is to provide an opportunity for reflection based on a set of key questions about the current state of higher education following the pandemic, as well as on its future once we can return to pre-crisis learning and education practices.
The session's panellists also include Georgi Dimitrov, Head of Digital Education at the European Commission; Mark Brown, Chair in Digital Learning, Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning at Dublin City University and EDEN's treasurer; Airina Volungeviciene, Director of the Innovative Studies Institute at Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania, and Founder of EDEN - Digital Learning Europe; and Alfredo Soeiro, associate professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Porto.
Finally, the session will also cover the Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027) created by the EU member states to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 and, more specifically, how it has affected configuration of the new European Education Area.
The 2021 European Online and Distance Learning Week is organized in partnership with the Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia (ODLAA), the Flexible Learning Association of New Zealand (FLANZ) and the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA).
All sessions will be held online. To attend, you need to sign up in advance.
