For the second year running, Barcelona is taking part in the Ars Electronica Festival for Art, Technology & Society. The world's number one event for electronic art and alternative forms of contemporary creative expression relating to modern technology, now in its 42nd year, will be taking place from 8 to 12 September, and Barcelona is organizing one of the 86 international gardens which give greater dimension – physically and online – to the festival in its home city of Linz, Austria.
On 8 September, the media are invited to a presentation to launch the second Ars Electronica Garden Barcelona, which this year will feature some of Catalonia's leading figures in the field of art, academia and technology. There is a variety of events programmed that reflect the rich diversity and complexity present in Barcelona and Catalonia, as well as peculiarities in the nature of these places.
The Barcelona Garden, spread across various sites, will showcase exhibitions, new works and ongoing projects by 24 artists, who have been preparing creations specially for Ars Electronica following a public call for applications for grants.
During the presentation, UOC President Josep A. Planell will also announce next year's ISEA Barcelona 2022 (International Symposium of Electronic Arts). The UOC is the main organizer of this event, which can see Ars Electronica Garden Barcelona as its forerunner.
