Summary
While widespread ageist beliefs against older adults regard them as politically conservative and digitally incompetent, research has consistently shown otherwise for years. What has been less researched is how older adults experience the course of their sociopolitical activism and the role of media technologies over time. In this seminar, Blanche-Tarragó draws on his ongoing doctoral dissertation to try to understand older adults' experiences, practices, and meanings of (their) activism and the use of (digital) media technologies serving their activism throughout their lives.
Ph.D. student at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and a research assistant at the Communication Networks & Social Change research group (CNSC). His doctoral research focuses on the intersection between the sociopolitical participation of ageing subjects and the communicative processes enabled by digital technologies.
