Objectives: Over the last few decades, major transformations have taken place in the social-economic context, in job markets, in organizations and in the workplace. The recent and ongoing economic recession and the high rates of unemployment are raising questions about the sustainability of the levels of well-being at work achieved in previous decades. The concept of sustainable well-being at work (SWW) refers to the long-term maintenance of psychological health, job satisfaction and personal development of employees in a workplace in which they feel a high level of commitment to the job, and high levels of performance and productivity.

In this context, the aim of the present research project is to identify the conditions of the organizational contexts that generate SWW, through the integration of the study of well-being at work with the performance and productivity study. In this research project, we propose to formulate and validate the sustainable well-being at work (SWW) construct and analyse its background, the steps taken by different actors to promote it and its dynamic over time. Specifically, through a longitudinal field study, we are studying the role of the characteristics of jobs and human resources management practices in the development of SWW.
