Managing linguistic diversity in an educational centre
Peter Mayans, Head of Service of Immersion and Use of Language at the Education Department of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the student in the first edition of the postgraduate course in Linguistic Management and Cultural Diversity will read his postgraduate thesis titled: “Managing linguistic diversity in an educational centre”.
The event will take place on the European Day of Languages, held every year on September 26.
Dr Maite Puigdevall, academic director of Postgraduate Studies and lecturer of Arts and Humanities at the UOC, will discuss the objectives, structure and content of this postgraduate course, which is done with the collaboration of the Chair in Multilingualism Linguamón-UOC.

In the context of globalisation, in which multilingualism is no longer exceptional and has become the norm in families, urban spaces, institutions and companies, it becomes increasingly necessary to develop ways of managing activities and organisations that can take this reality into account. In fact, multilingualism has become a strategic issue for large companies and institutions like the European Union. Similarly, municipalities and other local institutions, charity organisations, workers' cooperatives, small and medium enterprises are increasingly feeling the need to develop criteria for the use of different languages and supply multilingual services to serve their clients, employees or the communities they serve. The employees of these organisations need to address the issue of multilingualism in the projects they design and in their organisational processes. The objective of this course is to provide them the training they need in this regard.
