Inauguration of the Interdisciplinary R&I Hub

Josep A. Planell, President of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and Pere Aragonès, President of the Government of Catalonia will inaugurate the Interdisciplinary R&I Hub building located in the Poblenou Campus in 22@, Barcelona's technology and innovation district.

This building, a cornerstone of the research and innovation (R&I) ecosystem, is the culmination of the UOC's process of concentrating its activities in the Poblenou Campus. The hub brings together research and support staff, labs, international collaborators, doctoral students and all the other agents and assets of research at the UOC under the same roof to aid and maximize interactions between different people and disciplines.

The new research hub has been supported by the Government of Catalonia, which has made a commitment to co-fund the project for the sum of €1.25 million, as part of the programme to foster singular institutional R&I infrastructure projects. The project includes the refurbishment of 2,915 m² of the building. The UOC provided the remainder of the funding.

The event will consist of a guided tour of the facilities and will also be attended by  the Minister of Research and Universities, Joaquim Nadal, among others.

This event will conclude the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the UOC's founding, with a commemorative ceremony in which the university's entire staff is expected to participate.
