Objectives: The principal aim of our project is to apply the context of new technologies to address an issue of theoretical importance, but above all one of huge practical significance: the quality of life of parents who care for children with chronic disorders, specifically cerebral palsy.
To achieve this, and within the context of a theoretical model such as the Conceptual Model of Caregiving Process and Caregiver Burden Among Pediatric Population, developed by Parminder Raina and collaborators, we intend to design, implement and evaluate an online intervention aimed at reducing the perception of burden of parents of children with cerebral palsy and improving their quality of life. As the basis for our intervention, we will use a virtual platform developed by the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation which, designed in open source, allows peer-to-peer work among the parents of the children in our study, offering a new perspective of intervention based on promoting exchange among peers.
