Dynamic and efficient organisations do not simply invest in technology, they also analyse their needs and implement the system that best adapts to these. It is also vital to be familiar with the policies of the information society and their interrelation with culture, economics and education if we are to deal successfully with strategies for business growth and their technological implementation.
Hence, the UOC's Postgraduate Training has designed this Specialist Technology and the Information Society Course to produce professionals who can successfully master the management and implementation of ICTs in their organisation and understand the environment of the information society in which they do business.
The specialist course begins with an overview of the information society, split into three areas: technological, economic and cultural. The technological area explains the role of the Internet as the technological foundation of the information society and the concepts of digital code and technological convergence, relating these concepts with the evolution of modern society. In its economic analysis, the course introduces the characteristics of globalisation and the transition from an industrial economy to an economy of knowledge, differentiating the technical and economic aspects from the digitalisation of economic activity. The second module provides an overview of the business, placing an emphasis on its financial role. The specialist course ends with a classic management topic: project management.
Professionals who take part in this programme will improve their professional skills and bring the following to their organisation:
- Ability to contextualise the management of their business in the global framework of the information society.
- Global and integrating vision of the key elements of the management of business processes based on information technologies.
- Basic methodology, documentation and tools to manage project lifecycles and the ability to plan projects, their components and critical aspects.
