Microsoft .NET is a group of technologies and tools for the development of all types of applications: window applications, web applications, applications for mobile devices, etc.
The central core of .NET is .NET Framework, a library of classes that provides the basic necessary functionalities for any application, like for example the creation of types of data, collections, access to files, management of process threads, creation of graphics, management of application security, etc.
Apart from the basic functionalities, .NET Framework includes other technologies that allow the creation of much more complex applications, such as ASP.NET for the development of Web applications, WinForms for the development of client applications and ADO.NET for data access.
As the .NET technology evolves, more and more functionalities are added to the current technologies, while new ones also appear, for example WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) for the development of visually complex client applications, WCF (Windows Communication Foundation) for the development of distributed applications based on services, LINQ (Language Integrated Query) to carry out consultations on the collection of objects and AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript And XML) for the development of ASP.NET Web applications that use JavaScript on the client side.
This specialisation course is centred on the study of the basic functionalities that .NET Framework provides, which serve as a base for the rest of the .NET technologies.
On studying this programme, the students will obtain the basic knowledge necessary to develop applications with .NET Framework. The programme also trains the student for the 70-536 certification exam, which is necessary to obtain the different Microsoft certifications in the development of .NET applications.
