The Sindicatura de Greuges, or ombuds office

Sindicatura de Greuges

The síndic de greuges (ombuds officer) is appointed by the Board of Trustees of the Fundació per a la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (FUOC). The síndic's task is to defend the rights and duties of all members of the UOC, acting independently from all of the university's other bodies and authorities.

The current síndica de greuges is Teresa Sancho Vinuesa, Professor of Mathematical Education at the UOC.

What are the Sindicatura de Greuges' responsibilities?

According to the Sindicatura de Greuges' regulations (in Catalan), its main responsibilities are:

  • To defend the rights and freedoms of all members of the UOC community against any action or situation of discrimination, powerlessness or arbitrariness.
  • To guarantee compliance with the UOC's Organizational and Operational Regulations as well as its other regulations.
  • To seek to defend university quality in all spheres.
  • To uphold the values of the UOC as a place for people's education and exchanges and creation of knowledge.

As stipulated by the UOC's Organizational and Operational Regulations, the Sindicatura de Greuges fulfils its duties impartially, objectively and independently of the UOC's other bodies and authorities.

Do you want to lodge a complaint or make an enquiry?

To send a query, complaint or claim to the Sindicatura de Greuges, you must be a member of the UOC community and you must include your personal details in all communications (anonymous complaints and those on behalf of third parties are not accepted). Any information disclosed to the Sindicatura will be treated confidentially and in accordance with current data protection regulations.

Complaints must be lodged in writing, clearly and concisely, using this complaints form. You must clearly state the reasons for your complaint and the circumstances surrounding it.

Before lodging a complaint, you should take a look at the regulations of the UOC's Sindicatura de Greuges, in particular, the section that explains how to proceed with such actions (Procediment i actuació). Bear in mind that there is no set time within which the Sindicatura de Greuges must resolve enquiries, and it cannot do so immediately, as it must study each case based on the information provided by each of the parties involved.

For matters that are not complaints, you may contact the Sindicatura de Greuges by email at sindicatura@uoc.edu.
