
The UIDI focuses on identifying and addressing inequalities and forms of violence that may affect the university community, taking into account different axes of discrimination, such as disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, cultural diversity and socioeconomic status.
From an intersectional perspective, the 2026-2029 Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Plan (IDI Plan) provides the roadmap for integrating the principles of equity across all areas of the UOC. The Plan promotes actions aimed at transforming teaching, organizational culture, research and knowledge transfer, helping to advance towards a more equitable, diverse and inclusive university.
Equality Unit in 2008, the University has developed and implemented a series of gender equality plans. Over time, however, this commitment has evolved into a broader, more intersectional approach. In line with this evolution, the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Unit (UIDI) was established in 2025, replacing the former Equality Unit.
This commitment to gender equality has been recognized by the European Commission with the EU Award for Gender Equality Champions, a distinction presented to institutions with a strong record of implementing gender equality policies.
