Grants and financial aid

At the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), we strive to help as many people as possible access lifelong learning. For this reason, there's a wide range of grants, discounts and other financial aid available to help you start or continue with your studies, including bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and lifelong learning programmes. Find out about all the options available to you and submit an application if you're eligible!

What grants can you apply for?

There are various grants available. Which one's right for you will depend on what you want to study and your personal circumstances. You must meet the requirements specified in each call for applications. Here are some of the main options:

Grants from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports

Every year, in order to ensure equal opportunities and access to its official qualifications, the Spanish Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports offers grants. To be eligible, you must meet certain general, academic and financial requirements.

In addition, under the Equitat grants, students of bachelor's and university master's degrees that qualify them for professional practice can get a discount on the public price of teaching credits on their first enrolment. You can get 70-80% off the price of bachelor's degrees and 20-25% off university master's degrees, depending on the bracket you fall under based on your household income. Find out more.

Grants awarded by the UOC and in partnership with other organizations

The UOC is committed to ensuring equal access to education for everyone. This is why it awards grants and financial aid to make training available to people in certain categories. These grants can be provided directly by the UOC or be the result of collaboration between the university and bodies or governments of different countries. For example:

  • Rural grants, aimed at providing higher education opportunities for people who live in rural areas.
  • Grants for refugees, asylum seekers or stateless persons.
  • International grants for students from Latin America and the Caribbean wishing to study for university master's degrees.

Erasmus grants

If you're studying for a bachelor's or master's degree and want to apply for an Erasmus grant to study or do an internship in another country, you can find details on these possibilities in our International mobility section.

What other discounts and financial aid are available?

Based on your situation and what you want to study, here are some of the types of financial aid you can apply for:

  • Discounts for people in specific categories or with specific circumstances: you can get a discount if you can satisfactorily prove that one of the following applies to you: you have a disability, you're a member of a large family, you obtained a distinction, you're a victim of terrorism or gender violence (intimate partner violence or other forms of gender violence), or you receive the minimum living allowance.
