The EHEA Bachelor's Degree in Tourism and the Master's Degree in Tourist Destination Strategy and Sustainable Management have been awarded this certificate for promoting sustainable development in tourism. TedQual is the only international teaching and training certificate awarded by the World Tourism Organization, a United Nations agency specialized in the field. The UOC is the first online university in the world to receive this certification.
The UOC's award-winning project is the Present@ tool, an interactive videoblog that makes it easy to upload and view large format video presentations. The IMS Global Learning Consortium has its headquarters in the US state of Florida and its members include large corporations and institutions such as IBM, Samsung, the University of Cambridge, the University of California, the Open University of Japan or Australia's Department of Education, among many others.
SpeakApps, the innovative language learning portal developed by a team of faculty from the UOC, has won a silver medal at the prestigious international 2014 Learning Impact Awards organized by the IMS Global Learning Consortium, a non-profit organization promoting use of learning technologies in higher education. The main aim of these awards is to recognize the best innovative initiatives in technological applications that contribute to improving education worldwide.
Two mobile applications developed by the UOC's Office of Learning Technologies have won awards in LTI App Bounty, an international competition organized by the IMS Global Learning Consortium, an institution that works to develop technologies that improve open and online learning around the world.
The European Quality Assurance Network for Informatics Education (EQANIE) awarded the Euro-Inf international accreditation to six core training courses in the UOC's Faculty of Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications in recognition of the quality of its training and research work. The programmes are the bachelor’s degrees in Multimedia, Computer Engineering, and Telecommunications Technology, and the university master’s degrees in Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, and Multimedia Applications.
The project "iUOC: Enhanced Mobile Learning at the UOC", which aims to take the Virtual Campus of the UOC to new portable and interactive platforms such as iPad, received the bronze award in the 2011 Learning Impact Awards from the IMS Global Learning Consortium. The Learning Impact Awards recognize the most powerful and influential uses of technology for the purpose of improving education.
The MyWay project, developed by professionals from the UOC, won the 2006 IGC award for Digital Innovation in the category of projects by universities and institutions, granted by the Internet Global Congress. The IGC awards for Digital Innovation have as their objective the recognition and rewarding of talent and progress of both companies and professionals or university students who present innovative technology-based projects in the field of information and communication technologies, specifically in the digital area.
MyUOC, the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya’s (Open University of Catalonia, UOC) Virtual Campus, won the 2009 Learning Impact award for the best educational portal from the IMS Global Consortium. Learning Impact is organised by the IMS Global Consortium, a non-profit association that works to improve learning through the use of technology. Its members, some one hundred organisations from around the world, including the UOC, work in different fields of e-learning. The IMS’s mission is to act as a neutral forum where organisations can work together to promote the use of technology and so enrich learning.
