On Wednesday 11 December, the eLearn Center will host the seminar Building networks for the improvement of distance and online learning, by professors Rosalind James and Mark Millard.
Professor Rosalind James will present the DEHub distance and online learning network, as an example of a community of practitioners in education. Why the DEHub, how it works and how the community is engaged and collaborate. How projects and research developed help for the improvement of distance higher education.
Professor Mark Millard will present the comETS Community of Educational Technology Support: improving teaching and learning through networking and collaboration. How are collaboration taking place, what is successful and what are the main barriers, if any.
During the seminar they will provide some ideas to what might be transferable to online communities in e-learning and how each of these experiences can contribute to the improvement of online education.
Rosalind James is Director of DEHub network, University of New England (Australia). She is co-editor of RUSC. Universities and Knowledge Society Journal and she is also co-editor of a special section about OER Initiatives in Oceania.
Mark Millard is Director of Learning Design & Technologies. He is also Professor at the Department of Engineering Professional Development, University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA).
