The Pau Casals UNESCO Chair for the Music, Defence of Peace and Human Rights, founded in 2022 by an agreement between the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and the Pau Casals Foundation, is opening its second call for applications for research grants with the mission of promoting research into an understanding of the musical and humanistic legacy of Pau Casals.
The topic chosen by grant recipients may focus on the figure and the musical or human legacy of Pau Casals, but is also open to other subjects, such as the values championed by the musician throughout his life: human rights, culture of peace and international justice, amongst others.
The Pau Casals UNESCO Chair offers a financial endowment of 2.000€ to each grant, as well as support and mentoring from an expert committee and access to Pau Casals' document archive, found at the National Archive of Catalonia, amongst other benefits.
The call for application will be open until 12 May 2024. The decision of the selection committee shall be issued before 14 June 2024 and grant recipients must submit their final research project before 1 June 2025.
This call is open to students and researchers throughout the world.
