Abstract

This seminar will discuss how ageism can influence our perception of older adults. It will present findings from a content analysis of twenty years of Dutch-language newspapers. The focus of this analysis was the representation of older adults in relation to digital inclusion. I will then discuss the repercussions of this on older adults themselves and on their digital engagement. The seminar will finish by presenting four steps which can be used to become more conscious of this type of discrimination and ways to ensure that you are more age-aware in your communication.
