Program

Summary

Artificial intelligence is quickly becoming a central force shaping every dimension of human life, from global systems to everyday decisions. This makes it urgent to engage in an ethical debate about what uses of AI should be considered permissible, responsible, or fair. A coherent European and even international regulatory framework is needed—one that safeguards fundamental rights and democratic freedoms while remaining flexible enough to foster responsible and sustainable technological innovation. Such a framework must ensure that we do not delegate moral or political responsibility to machines, corporations, or institutions that might misuse AI technology. At the core lies the idea of social justice: technology should serve human dignity and collective, planetary well-being. Ultimately, this is a political question—what kind of AI, and therefore what kind of world, do we want to build together?
