Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees (Patronat) is the maximum authority representing, governing and administering the Fundació per a la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Foundation for the Open University of Catalonia, FUOC), in accordance with Article 14 of the Statutes.

The FUOC Board of Trustees’ main functions are:

  • To approve and, where necessary, modify the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia, UOC) organisational and operational regulations.
  • To appoint and dismiss the President and the General Manager.
  • To approve the University’s budget and accounts.
  • To approve the action plan presented by the President and evaluate the results.

The UOC President and FUOC General Manager attend the meetings of the Board of Trustees, in an advisory role.

Three members representing the following bodies:

Joandomènec Ros, representative of the Institute for Catalan Studies.

Pau Bestit, representative of the Official Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Shipping.

Miquel Martí, BCN Tech City CEO.
 

Three members representing leading companies and individuals from the social, cultural, scientific or professional sectors not linked to the public sector:

Pere Vallès, President of SCTYL.

Helena Guardans, President of Webhelp Spain. Chair of the Standing Committee.

Josep M. Coronas, of Coronas i Advocats.
 

Five members designated by the Government of Catalonia:

Hon. Ramon Tremosa, Minister for the Economy and Knowledge, Government of Catalonia.

Hon. Josep Bargalló, Minister for Education, Government of Catalonia.

Francesc Xavier Grau, Secretariat of Universities and Research, Government of Catalonia  

M. Victoria Girona, Director General of Universities, Government of Catalonia  

David Ferrer, Secretariat of Digital Policies, Government of Catalonia

Pere Vallès is the President of the Board of Trustees and the UOC's Secretary General, Pere Fabra, is the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.
