ETHE, the UOC's e-journal on online higher education, added to the Social Sciences Citation Index

It will now have an impact factor and be recognized as a leading international journal in its field

The International Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education (ETHE) has been added to the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), the database that indexes and rates the international scientific publications with the highest impact in each subject area. Thanks to its inclusion, ETHE's Impact Factor (IF) can be calculated from June 2019. It is the most internationally used and recognized index for measuring the quality of scientific journals. “This recognition of our journal demonstrates the quality of work put in by the whole editorial team over many years,” said co-editor-in-chief and founder of ETHE, Josep Maria Duart.

ETHE is a scholarly e-journal co-published by the UOC and Colombia's University of Los Andes. It aims to analyse the impact that technologies have on teaching and learning processes in higher education. The journal was started by the UOC in 2014 under the name RUSC. Revista de Universidad y Sociedad del Conocimiento (Universities and Knowledge Society Journal). From 2019, Dublin City University and Vytautas Magnus University will join as co-publishers. This will help consolidate ETHE's international growth. In 2017 it covered the five continents, with articles by 126 authors in 26 countries, and 208 peer reviewers in 41 countries – the corresponding figures for 2018 are even more impressive.
