UOC and FernUniversität Strengthen Institutional Collaboration

The UOC will host an institutional visit on 22 and 23 June by the Rector of FernUniversität in Hagen, Stefan Stürmer, and the General Manager of the German university, Michael Strotkemper.

 

The meeting, which will include an institutional welcome with the UOC Rector, Àngels Fitó Bertran, and the General Manager, Jordi Marin Puigpelat, aims to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions within the framework of the OpenEU alliance and to share approaches on digital education, research, organisational transformation and sustainability in open and distance higher education.

 

During the working sessions, the delegation will hold meetings with the UOC governing team and with academic and management leaders to address issues related to institutional strategy, the educational model, digital transformation, educational innovation, research and doctoral education, as well as technology, security and the evolution of the academic portfolio.

 

The programme also includes a session dedicated to OpenEU, led by the UOC Commissioner for International Action, Pastora Martínez Samper, focusing on the challenges of implementing the alliance, its role as a platform for innovation in university policies, and future perspectives beyond 2028.

 

The visit will also include a tour of the UOC campus, featuring the innovation laboratories and a showcase of research infrastructures, as well as a session on the future of higher education, students, educational portfolios and market positioning.
