La conferència final del Global Novel Research Project reuneix estudiosos que realitzen investigacions sobre la novel·la contemporània des d'una perspectiva global, des de qualsevol tradició literària i lingüística. El tema de la conferència s'alinea amb l'objectiu del projecte. Ens interessa una perspectiva nova, més integrada i descentralitzada en l'estudi del gènere emergent de la novel·la global, definida com una forma narrativa que aspira a representar i pensar el món contemporani des d'una perspectiva global. Aquest nou enfocament ens ajudarà a entendre millor com la novel·la global contribueix, discuteix i construeix discursos globals a través d'una poètica exploratòria específica. Simultàniament, ajudarà a cartografiar la circulació desigual d'aquestes obres dins l'espai literari. Treballant des d'una perspectiva comparada, la jornada pretén creuar els enfocaments poètics i sociològics del gènere, l'adopció separada del qual està produint definicions i simplificacions contradictòries. Mitjançant aquest encreuament, pretenem entendre com les novel·les contemporànies tracten temes globals, com la violència global, la desigualtat, la migració o el canvi climàtic, així com com les novel·les circulen al mercat literari internacional. El nostre objectiu és contribuir al debat global de la novel·la i interrogar-ne la conceptualització, l'abast i el comportament.
